The '06 London Tecumsehs traveled to Barrie Ontario this past weekend to take part in the Barrie AAA Tournament.
The Friday night game was under the lights at 8pm. It was a tightly contested game with great pitching from both sides. The Tecumsehs ended up losing their first game of the season to Barrie AAA with a score of 5 - 2.
The team was right back to it Saturday morning at 8:30 against Mississauga AAA. Behind more great pitching and strong hitting the team came away with a 9 - 3 victory.
2 more games were played Saturday with the team digging deep to power past their opponents 11 - 7 & 19 - 2.
After the completion of the round robin portion of the tournament the '06 Tecumsehs had earned the #1 seed setting up a Semi Final appearance against Vaughan AAA Sunday morning!
This was a back and forth game with great pitching and timely hitting for both sides. Tied 4 - 4 in the top of the 7th the Tecumshes pulled off a 1st and 3rd play which resulted in cashing the runner from 3rd. The bottom of the 7th saw some power pitching which clinched a finals birth against Barrie AAA.
With the team seeking redemption from the earlier loss the '06 Tecumsehs came out swinging and played some rock solid defense to jump out to an early lead. They never trailed in this game and at the end of 7 innings they had captured the Barrie AAA Tournament Championship 5 - 3!
A huge thank you to the city of Barrie for hosting a great tournament at their awesome facility. Also a huge thank you to our family and friends who came out to cheer us on this weekend!
