2023 11U Tryouts & Visiting the Field of Dreams
Just as the leaves begin to fall, we are already looking ahead to the 2023 baseball season!
I am thrilled to be returning as head coach of our 11U team! Tryouts begin Saturday October 1 from 2-4pm at Kiwanis 2. Sunday October 2nd from 11AM-1PM Kiwanis 2 and Wednesday October 5th from 5:30-7PM Kiwanis 2 with a rain date of Thursday October 6th at 5:30-7PM Kiwanis 2.
To be considered for the 2023 roster it is mandatory that you attend two out of the three tryouts. You must also pre-register for tryouts by visiting the registration page in the menu above.
This year the 11U team is planning to attend a tournament at the Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville Iowa (pending league and provincial approval). The tournament is run by Baseball Factory and the kids will get to play at least 3 games near the site as well as participate in a skills competition where they will get to walk out of the corn just like in the movie.
While this is a great opportunity for the kids, we recognize there is a cost factor. We will do our best to fundraise and obtain sponsorships to help deal with the cost but as there would still be hotel costs and travel costs outside of tournament costs it is London Talons policy that all players be given the option to opt out of attending the tournament with no repercussions on making the team. Therefore, while we are disclosing this tournament plan to you now, you do not have to opt in or out of the tournament until AFTER the roster is announced and you know whether your child has made the team.
This will be our ONLY travel tournament outside of OBA's for 2023. All other tournaments will be local to ensure costs stay down.
