18U Talons Open Season with Resounding 11-3 Victory
The 2022 season got underway for the 18U Talons on Tuesday at Emslie Field in St. Thomas, as the Talons took on the Cardinals to open the year. The boys in blue came out on top with an 11-3 win in their first contest of the season.
Following two practices, including a scrimmage, the week prior, the Talons took the field on what turned out to be a beautiful Tuesday night in St. Thomas. Colin Mitchell got the ball on Opening Day, and after two solid innings allowing just a few hits, he turned things over to Luke Millar in relief. Millar wound up closing things out, going the remaining four innings allowing just a single run.
The bats got going in the second innings for both sides, as the Talons posted three runs in the frame. The sticks never cooled down, with big hits from both Jacks (Steadman and Faulds) highlighting the offensive output for London.
The Talons play two games this week, as they visit the TinCaps at Labatt Park on Wednesday (first pitch at 8:30pm), then travel to Kitchener to take on the Midwestern Ontario Bearcats 16U AAA team at Lions Park in Kitchener (first pitch at 6:30pm on diamond 2).
