We are about to begin the tryout portion of the indoor training and we wanted to share with you our team expectations and season-long commitment. This is to help you and your young athlete decide if you'd like to officially tryout for this year's team.
Our goal for the selection process is to identify the players that are talented, athletic, have a great attitude, show a willingness to listen and learn, have potential for improvement, and possess the traits needed to be a good teammate.
Please note that the first two sessions take place at the Centrefield Sports Complex located at 25 Midpark Crescent, London, ON N6N 1A9.
TRYOUT DATES:
* MONDAY March 21st - indoor training session (CF SPORTS from 8-9:45pm) - due to the late timeslot, this session is OPTIONAL. All remaining sessions are MANDATORY. Please email if for some reason, you can't make the try-out.
* Friday March 25th - tryouts (CF SPORTS from 5:30-7:30pm)
* Friday April 1st - tryouts (JP Robarts from 6-7:45pm)
* Friday April 8th - tryouts (JP Robarts from 6-7:45pm)
We may also add an outdoor tryout, weather permitting. We will provide as much notice as possible.
We are expecting 25-30 kids trying out this year. That means some very tough decisions ahead, and some very good athletes will be left off the team. However, following our team selection, there may be an opportunity to tryout for a Mosquito "Select" team. More information on that will follow from the London Tecumsehs Competitive Committee.
As far as our expectations go... we have a full schedule planned for this year with 2-3 practices and 1-2 games per week. We will be playing in a minimum of 4 tournaments (mostly local) plus the OBA's during the Labour Day Weekend (which is mandatory). There will also be a number of team building events throughout the Summer.
The Tournaments dates are as follows:
May 27-29 St. Thomas Cardinals Tournament
June 10-12 London Badgers Tournament
June 24-26 LaSalle Titans Tournament
July 15-17 London Tecumsehs host Tournament
Monetarily, if your child is successful in making the team, the league will collect a registration fee of $420 which includes a full uniform (jersey, pants, socks, belt, hat) and a $50 league fundraising fee. This will be due on or about April 15th.
On top of that, there will be a "team" fee of approximately $200 which will cover tournament entry fees and some between game/practice gear for the players. There will be an opportunity to fundraise as a team to recoup these costs. We will also look into obtaining some sponsors to help offset these costs. This fee will be due on or about June 1st.
We are looking forward to an exciting season ahead, and we ask that you do your best to support your child during the tryout process. Be positive and encouraging. Tryouts are very stressful on the players (and parents), so do your best to help them through it. Do not add to the stress factor!
